These photos are from Matt and Kris' trip to Missouri in 1999. John Morthland of nearby Hannibal was kind enough to show us around the area.

Amy Wyona Morthland was Grandpa Vernon's sister. She was the only sibling younger than him. There were 7 children in all.	Joseph Emmett Morthland (Uncle Emmett) was fourth oldest, and the second oldest boy.
Boyd Elman Morthland was fifth oldest. He was also the last to pass away, in 1971, at age 94.	This one-room schoolhouse (and later a grange) was on, or very near, the Morthland homestead. Grandpa Vernon taught here while attending law school.
Joseph and Mary Morthland were Grandpa Vernon's parents. They were both born in Ohio, where they were married. They came from Marion County, Ohio, and settled in Marion County, Missouri.	Sarah (Morrison) Morthland was Grandpa Vernon's grandmother, Joseph's mother. I do not know at what time the family moved to Missouri, but her husband Soloman (Joesph's father) died in 1848 in Ohio when Joseph was 15.
